Uzbek Student Sentenced to 10 Days in Prison for Selling Cryptocurrency

A young graduate from Termez State University, aged 24, has been sentenced to 10 days of administrative detention for the sale of the cryptocurrency notcoin. Termez State University, a well-known public institution in the capital of Surkhandarya province in Uzbekistan, was the alma mater of the accused. The court determined that he had violated laws regarding the trading of digital assets. The incident came to light following a report filed with the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) in Tashkent on June 1. Subsequent investigations revealed that the student had engaged in illicit cryptocurrency transactions using his mobile phone and bank card. During the court proceedings, the student confessed to his actions, admitting that he had sold notcoin via Telegram for 800,000 Uzbekistani som ($63) without realizing that it was against the law. He appealed for leniency from the court. Ultimately, the Chilanzar district criminal court found him guilty under Part 1 of Article 155-4 of the Administrative Responsibility Code, which pertains to violations related to cryptocurrency laws.
