Tokyo-based public company, Metaplanet, has recently announced its latest acquisition of bitcoin for its treasury holdings. According to official disclosures, Metaplanet has obtained 21.877 bitcoin, amounting to approximately $1.26 million (equivalent to 200 million Japanese yen). As a result of this purchase, Metaplanet’s total bitcoin holdings now stand at 225.61, with a total expenditure of slightly over $14.17 million. Metaplanet had previously stated its commitment to a “bitcoin first” strategy back in May, citing its intention to combat the devaluation of the Japanese yen. Additionally, the company aims to position itself as an appealing option for investors seeking a Japanese alternative to Microstrategy, a prominent player in the bitcoin market.
