VARA in Dubai Unveils Version 2.0 of Its Virtual Asset Regulation Rulebook

The Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) in Dubai has announced the release of Version 2.0 of its activity-based Rulebooks.

The updated Rulebooks enhance supervisory mechanisms for various regulated virtual asset activities, including advisory services, broker-dealer services, custody services, and exchange services, among others. Key updates include strengthened controls on margin trading and token distribution, clearer definitions for collateral wallet arrangements, and harmonized compliance requirements across all licensed activities.

Ruben Bombardi, General Counsel and Head of Regulatory Enablement at VARA, emphasized the importance of aligning innovation with compliance to foster a responsible and scalable ecosystem.
