Uganda and Eight Other Countries Become Partners of BRICS in January

Russia has officially announced that Uganda, along with eight other countries, will become a partner of the BRICS alliance on January 1, 2025. The other countries include Belarus, Bolivia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Malaysia, Thailand, and Uzbekistan. While these nations will join BRICS as partner countries, they will not possess the same privileges as official members, such as voting rights and unrestricted participation in summits and meetings. The BRICS partnership aims to strengthen economic diplomacy and cooperation among these countries in areas such as trade, investments, and special projects. Additionally, they will have access to funding from the BRICS development bank and the Contingency Reserve Arrangement, which serves as a mechanism to address financial crises.
