New Hampshire Attorney General Joins the Demand to Officially Recognize Imprisoned Former Federal Agent as a Hostage

New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella and 17 other state attorneys general are urging the Biden Administration to designate Tigran Gambaryan, a detained U.S. citizen, as a hostage. The AGs express deep concern for his well-being and safety, given his prolonged detention in Nigeria without formal charges. Gambaryan, a former law enforcement officer with the IRS, joined Binance to help the company align with U.S. legal standards. His detention in Nigeria has raised international concerns, with his family and U.S. officials calling for his release. The Nigerian government’s failure to produce Gambaryan for a recent court hearing has further fueled concerns about his treatment. The attorneys general believe designating him as a hostage will unlock resources and diplomatic pressure to secure his immediate release.
