Metaplanet, publicly traded as 3350 on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, announced a significant addition to its bitcoin holdings on July 1st. Following their previous disclosure on June 24th outlining plans to acquire BTC valued at 1 billion yen ($6.2 million), Metaplanet has executed an initial purchase amounting to 200 million yen. This transaction involved acquiring 20.195 bitcoins at an average price of 9,903,441 yen per BTC.
With this latest acquisition, Metaplanet’s total bitcoin reserves now total 161.2677 bitcoins, obtained at an average cost of 10,231,438 yen per coin. This represents a cumulative investment of 1.65 billion yen. This strategic move underscores Metaplanet’s growing commitment to cryptocurrency investments, aligning with a broader trend of institutional interest in digital assets.
