President Javier Milei has taken to social media to provide a fresh explanation of Argentina’s currency plans. In response to a post mentioning bitcoin, Milei assured that individuals will have the freedom to use bitcoin, as there will be a competitive market for currencies in the country. He emphasized that people can also opt for other units such as WTI, BTU, or any other unit that suits their business needs. Milei concluded by highlighting that accounting challenges arising from this system can be easily resolved by adopting the functional currency model. Previously, Milei had unveiled his intention to impose jail time penalties for currency issuance and to dollarize the Argentine economy, which were key proposals during his campaign.
