Italy Introduces Strict Measures to Combat Manipulation in the Crypto Market

Italy is implementing measures to strengthen the monitoring of cryptocurrency assets and tackle the risks involved. A news agency has examined a preliminary decree which outlines the plan, revealing that it involves imposing substantial penalties on individuals who engage in market manipulation. Offenses such as insider trading, unauthorized disclosure of confidential information, and market manipulation could result in fines ranging from $5,400 to $5.4 million (€5,000 to €5 million). This initiative is in line with a European regulation introduced last year. Italy’s central bank and market regulator, Consob, will be responsible for supervising cryptocurrency activities, with the aim of maintaining the stability of the financial system and ensuring the orderly functioning of the market.
