Guernsey Post, the postal service responsible for mail delivery in Guernsey, an island in the Channel Islands, is poised to make history by becoming the first postal operator in the British Isles to introduce crypto stamps, effectively merging the worlds of traditional stamp collecting and digital non-fungible tokens (NFTs). In a launch set for later this month, these exclusive, non-postage crypto stamps will showcase the beloved Golden Guernsey Goats, Billy and Nanny. Each physical stamp will have a corresponding digital twin securely stored on the blockchain, which collectors can access by scanning the accompanying QR code. Bridget Yabsley, the Head of Guernsey Stamps and Collectables, expressed her excitement about venturing into the digital market, with the aim of appealing to both traditional stamp collectors and digital enthusiasts alike. Through their partnership with Stampfinity, Guernsey Post is looking to broaden their audience while also enriching the global community of collectors. While the physical stamps will feature a classic design, their digital counterparts will showcase contemporary, abstract art styles. The NFTs will come in various levels of rarity, offering collectors an element of surprise and exclusivity.
