Steven Drawdy, a 40-year-old resident of Grovetown, Georgia, has been sentenced to 32 months in federal prison for his involvement in a wire fraud case that deceived more than 40 customers through a cryptocurrency computer scheme. Between August 2021 and April 2022, Drawdy, who was active in an online cryptocurrency forum, collected over $1.1 million from victims under the pretense of supplying cryptocurrency mining computers that he never delivered. Instead of fulfilling his promises, Drawdy kept the funds for himself, frequently cutting off communication with his clients. He occasionally offered partial refunds, but these came with an unexplained “processing fee,” which he ultimately failed to honor. In addition to his prison sentence, U.S. District Court Judge J. Randal Hall has ordered Drawdy to pay restitution exceeding $1.1 million and to undergo three years of supervised release following his incarceration.
