Flutterwave, a Nigerian financial technology startup, has joined forces with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to establish a cybercrime research hub. This collaborative effort is geared towards ramping up the fight against online criminal activities, bolstering the security of commercial transactions, and creating pathways for Nigerian youth to excel. The partnership was solidified with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on June 14, 2024, in Abuja. The hub will prioritize the development of cutting-edge technologies for fraud detection and prevention, as well as offering extensive training programs for law enforcement and professionals in the field. Its primary goal is to empower 500 young Nigerians with the necessary skills to thrive in the digital economy. Furthermore, the hub will facilitate cooperation between the public and private sectors to combat financial crimes, including those involving cryptocurrencies.
