Last week, the EU–U.S. Joint Financial Regulatory Forum convened for its regular financial regulatory dialogue, where participants engaged in discussions on topics of shared interest. The European Commission and the U.S. Department of the Treasury co-hosted the dialogue. The forum centered on digital finance and crypto assets, with a particular focus on regulatory cooperation and the implementation of the Digital Operational Resilience Act and Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) Regulation in the EU. Both parties underscored the significance of international cooperation concerning crypto assets, including stablecoins, and emphasized the ongoing need for coordination on the international payments agenda to uphold financial stability and market integrity.
