In the upcoming Pectra upgrade on the Ethereum network, a significant transformation is on the horizon. This update will incorporate the EVM Object Format (EOF) and implement Vitalik Buterin’s suggested EIP-7702, enabling Ethereum account addresses to function as smart contract wallets for a temporary period during transactions. The Pectra upgrade is scheduled to be launched in the initial months of 2025 with the goal of improving user interaction by tackling challenges like transaction fees on Layer 2 platforms. Moreover, the upgrade will include the integration of approximately 19 EIPs, which will bring changes such as an increase in the maximum effective balance for validators.
