Thousands of supporters of the ultra-nationalist Revival party in Bulgaria clashed with the police as they tried to forcefully enter an EU mission building in Sofia. The protesters were expressing their opposition to Bulgaria’s scheduled adoption of the euro in 2026. During the demonstration, projectiles were thrown and fires were set, leading to injuries and arrests among the police officers. The Bulgarian government denounced the violence and reiterated its determination to join the Eurozone. Although economists argue that the euro would stimulate investment and reduce debt expenses, public sentiment is divided, with worries about possible price hikes.
