Argentine Officials of CNV Meet with Salvadoran Officials of CNAD to Discuss Bitcoin Regulation and Adoption
In an effort to leverage the expertise of El Salvador in bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, Argentina is seeking to strengthen its relationship with the country. Officials from the Argentine equivalent of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), known as the CNV, and representatives from the Salvadoran cryptocurrency regulator, the CNAD, recently met to discuss issues related to bitcoin adoption and regulation.
Leading the Argentine delegation were Roberto Silva and Patricia Boedo, the president and vice president of the CNV. Juan Carlos Reyes, the president of the CNAD, represented the Salvadoran institution. The discussions centered around El Salvador’s experience with bitcoin, including its adoption as legal tender and various regulatory aspects. Silva emphasized the value of Salvadoran expertise in the cryptocurrency asset field, noting that the CNAD’s establishment of a specific commission dedicated to digital assets provides valuable knowledge for the CNV.
Silva also expressed the CNV’s interest in exploring collaboration agreements with El Salvador in the realm of crypto and bitcoin. Boedo, who had previously participated in important regulation meetings in El Salvador, emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen ties with a country that is a pioneer in this field and possesses extensive experience.
Reyes acknowledged that Argentina is a pioneer in digital asset technology and recognized the CNV’s desire to work efficiently with the industry and establish appropriate regulation. This is not the first meeting between the two institutions, as Boedo traveled to El Salvador in March to discuss regulation issues.
